Last month has been one of our busiest months yet as far a song writing sessions go. We have been constantly banging our heads together with riffs, cords, arrangements, lyrics and recording demos and we’re now ready for the last sessions of the new cd and a special release next year.

As for live we had time to squeeze in shows at the Wonder Bar in Midsomer Norton, Freshwater holiday park (our first and last gig there) and The Fleur de lis in Stoke Sub Hamdon. The flu once again was a fun gig in a cracking pub with a great (pissed) crowd. But next year we’re gonna be busy with new songs because of interest from a label so we’re dropping covers from the set. Sorry guys but you’ll love the new stuff.

Rah's August post

I started last month in a pub in Taunton with Stu where we happened to get drunk with the organizer of the local open mic night who invited us to play the next week. We did and it was great to see so many people enjoying us and a variety of acts. So if you get a chance get down the open mic at the perfect 5^thits ace.

Recording the album has stepped up a notch. The drums, bass and guitars are all done for two new tracks making that five songs down and three more in the pipe line.

We rocked the Rifleman arms in Glastonbury on the 19^th supported by the excellent Psalms. Thank God it had changed hands and there’s someone there who likes rock music. We went all commercial at the end of the month and did a couple of private parties. Well that’s the album covers paid for.

Rah's July post

In July HD had a busy month working hard on album number two and playing across the country starting with Galhamptons Party in the park. We opened the festival with our high energy set warming the stage for a great line up including Hugh Cornwell (Stranglers). We met him back stage when looking for beer I don’t think he was impressed that we didn’t recognise him. I even introduced him as Huey from Huey Lewis and the news. He obviously hated us so we stole his beer and cleared off.

Next stop was the N, I, A Birmingham to take part in the world record attempt for the most drummers playing together. The record was beaten and now stands at 582. I had some of the best fun ever wile making money for the MS society. Check out the video at www.stickittoms.com

Moo had won an hour slot on the empty forth plinth in Trafalgar square as part of the One and other project. His idea was to play his bass on the plinth with a wireless link to Stu and myself playing in the Square. This went down with the organisers very well when we told them what we planed and they even made a fuss about it on there web site. So with all the necessary gear hired we set off for London at a silly hour to make it for the seven am slot. All did not go to plan. With minuets to go before we were to start playing the organisers told us that myself and Stu could not play in the square. It’s hard to believe but for an event the size of this they forgot to get the correct licences so it was all over, or was it?

One of the Square Wardens who was looking forward to some music tipped us off that if we set up behind the plinth they can’t stop us because its past there jurisdiction.

So we played an acoustic set there instead. It was strange to play in such a famous place you’ll have a look at the photos on myspace to know what I’m on about. We even managed to grab a last minuet support slot at the Hope and Anchor in Islington on the way home. What a day and month.

And we're back!

After a studio move and what seems like ages we're finally back online! In this update we have acoustic versions of two new songs: 'Suicide Joe' and 'Burn In Hell'. We've added these to our live set, so those of you who have been to one of our gigs over the last month would have already heard these in their full plugged in glory! For those who have yet to hear them, we hope you enjoy.

There's not much other news from the studio yet, the last couple of months we've been really busy moving and setting up again, but now things are settling down we'll be back into the recording before long. In the meantime the writing hasn't stopped and we have two more brand new songs in the works with Ryan penning the lyrics to one. We'll be concentrating of arranging the music to these over the next month and with any luck have another little taster of what's to come in the July or August update.

It's really useful for us to lay down acoustic versions of the songs early as you can really get a feel if a tracks working when you strip it down to the bare minimum of acoustic and vocals. If it feels right when done like this then you can bet it will work with the full sound, it means the essence and emotion of the song is there and you can feel comfortable that it will carry through to the final track.

Finally just a reminder to keep up to date with our MySpace blog as well, we're doing some pretty exciting this towards the end of July and all the details will be on there!

Feb Studio Update

A couple of new demos for you to listen to! These are 2 of about 5 new ones we've been working on over the last month, we're really happy with these ones so far, though sometimes it takes a while for things to sound right. Only Human was written in about a day but went through a couple of revisions before we decided it was fine to start with and went back to the original version, though with a bit more 'flamboyancy' from Stu on the guitar.

We're going to start laying down some drums and bass soon to begin building up the final tracks for the next album. Laying down the first real tracks is always exciting and we can't wait. However we want to try and improve on the sound of the last album so before we start putting anything down we're going to spend a bit of cash and upgrade the studio equipment. Some new drum mics is on the list along with a new pair of speakers to mix on. Our current ones seem to be sounding worse and worse these days so it's time to replace!

Hopefully on the next update we'll have a couple more demos for you, so until then Rock On!

New Writings!

Elvis Hangs His Head In Shame _ Acoustc

A new year and the first studio update to match. We've decided to change the focus of this blog a bit, it'll now be a place for our studio musings and a place where we'll put up snippets of new songs and exclusives demos... You won't find any of these on MySpace as that's for our 'finished' stuff, but you'll be able to hear how our writing sessions are going and follow the direction of the next album as we make it. I guess it'll be a sort of 'behind-the-scenes-as-it-happens' thing. Some of the stuff won't make the final cut other bits will no doubt change and so on but hopefully it'll be an interesting insight into what goes on in the band as we put together an album.

Anyway, over the last month or so we've started to piece together some new songs and now have 3 or 4 in development. One of which you can hear above. We're knocking around the idea of getting a little bit heavier in our songs while still trying to keep the no nonsense rock'n'roll feel, and we want to try and focus the sound on what we thought worked best for us from the last album. We all agree we want to go with the direction of songs like 'Blackheart' and 'No Better' etc. We'll see how it goes!

That'll do for now! Check back in a week or so and we should have another couple of songs to put up.

Whats on

The album is finished and the launch show is all over with thanks to all that came. Both album and gig got great reviews in The Shout so thanks guys glad you liked it. Since then we enjoyed an ace gig in Stoke Sub-Hamdon after being called in by the pub at the last minute. Then it was off to the Christchurch festival where we enjoyed playing on a rare sunny afternoon. Our next stop will be back on home turf at the Orange Box Yeovil on Saturday 9^th august so see you there.

Album Launch - May 30th

The venue's booked, the final mixing underway, the artwork in production and worldwide online distribution is sorted. Amazing how much stuff gets done when you have a deadline! We will be officially launching the album and the band on May 30th just down the road at The Sparkford Inn. In case you didn't notice...

As we near the end of the album writing and recording process we have started going through the mixes of the tracks we have so far and make some tweaks and improvements. The first one we've done is 'No Better' and it's now up on the myspace player: www.myspace.com/thehundreddaysrock

We'll be setting a completion date for the album soon too, what's definate is that we'll be holding a band/album launch party somewhere local when it's done... Watch this space for details!

Album Update

We're one step closer to completing our first album. We have now finished what could be the last track, still deciding on a final name, but something along the lines of 'Cut' or 'The Cut' seems appropriate. It's quite a catchy tune, and is very much a candidate for the 'single' track, ie the one which goes 1st on the cd we send off for promotional purposes. Recording for it shall begin soon, just as soon as Ryan's new drum kit is ready... He has just bought a very big and very loud new kit. A Premier Artist Maple series 'Rock Legend', it's vast and has a 26 inch bass drum. Just needs some new skins and a bit of a tune up and it'll be ready to rock. Can't wait.
